World Happiness Initiative

Purpose and Vision

The United World Leaders Society World Happiness Initiative is established to advance happiness, meaning, and well-being as shared human aspirations and priorities for public leadership. Its purpose is to help people live more fulfilling lives, strengthen human connection, and encourage governments and institutions to give greater attention to the well-being of the people they serve.

The Initiative is established to connect distinguished thinkers, researchers, spiritual teachers, senior faith leaders, government officials, young people, philanthropists, and major institutions. Its scope encompasses the inner foundations of happiness and the conditions that support it, including dignity, opportunity, belonging, compassionate leadership, and peaceful communities.

Institutional Positioning and Independence

United World Leaders (UWL) is a next-generation world leadership institution and one of the world’s largest and most influential multifunctional assemblies of Presidents, Prime Ministers, ministers, ambassadors, and other current and former senior government dignitaries, alongside leaders of major family offices, multinational corporations, investment funds, humanitarian organizations, academic institutions, and other influential global decision makers and stakeholders.

United World Leaders Society offers an institutional platform for qualified leaders to develop initiatives, build alliances, and advance impact. The Initiative is neutral, nonpolitical, and nonpartisan. It is open to people of different faiths and those without a religious affiliation, respects freedom of belief, and promotes no particular religion, political party, or government.

Global Happiness Roundtables

The Initiative is established to convene roundtables of researchers who study happiness, philosophers, spiritual teachers, senior faith leaders, public officials, and other accomplished thinkers. Topics include purpose, gratitude, relationships, service, resilience, material aspirations, and the wise use of the time available to each person.

These discussions are designed to connect reflection with practical insights for public leadership, education, family and community life, and the next generation, while welcoming scientific, philosophical, spiritual, and personal perspectives.

Faith and Spiritual Leadership

The Initiative is established to engage senior faith and spiritual leaders, recognizing the meaning, community, service, and hope that religious and spiritual life provides for many people. Engagement priorities include the Holy See and leadership across major faith traditions, alongside secular thinkers and scientific researchers, with a shared focus on happiness, compassion, purpose, and human dignity.

Government Leadership and Ministries of Happiness

The Initiative is established to encourage governments across the world to establish Ministries of Happiness or strengthen equivalent ministerial responsibilities for happiness and well-being. Its aim is to give population well-being a clear place in national leadership and encourage practical improvements in people’s lives.

Engagement with current and former heads of state and government, ministers, academics, and policy experts is designed to support exchanges of experience, credible measurement of life satisfaction and well-being, and useful policy ideas. Priorities include youth opportunity, social connection, education, economic security, and access to essential services, reflecting each country’s circumstances.

Annual World Happiness Assemblies

The Initiative is established to convene Annual World Happiness Assemblies of government leaders, senior faith and spiritual leaders, researchers, philosophers, youth representatives, philanthropists, and major institutions. These gatherings are designed to advance dialogue and cooperation on happiness, meaning, and the conditions that enable people and communities to flourish.

United World Leaders was established in part to support and supplement the initiatives of other organizations, including the United Nations. As such, the annual World Happiness Assembly is designed to correspond with 20 March, the United Nations International Day of Happiness, providing a shared calendar anchor for advancing happiness and well-being.

Assembly priorities include practical partnerships, discussion of Ministries of Happiness, exchanges between experienced leaders and youth, and engagement with institutional supporters. Roundtables and educational discussions offer avenues for continuing work between annual gatherings.

Sharing Happiness and Wisdom Across Generations

The Initiative is established to help young people explore what makes life meaningful and how to build a fulfilling life. Dialogues, mentorship, and educational discussions offer opportunities for accomplished thinkers, spiritual teachers, senior faith leaders, researchers, and other distinguished individuals to share their knowledge and experience.

Educational priorities include purpose, healthy ambition, gratitude, compassion, relationships, service, resilience, and perspective on daily pressures. Reflection on the time ahead encourages thoughtful choices and constructive use of one’s life. Youth engagement includes opportunities to ask questions, offer perspectives, and help shape programs.

For those sharing their wisdom, the Initiative offers an opportunity to build a lasting legacy through the lives they influence, with educational resources and intergenerational exchanges serving as avenues for preserving insights for future generations.

Future Collaboration Across the UWL Platform

Once the Initiative is established and operational, with substantive activities underway, its leaders can explore opportunities to leverage potentially synergetic UWLS initiatives and related UWL programs. These platforms offer settings for inviting and engaging relevant parties in support of the World Happiness Initiative. Opportunities develop with program readiness, institutional approval, and the interest and agreement of the relevant parties, rather than automatic access to their participants or networks.

Young United World Leaders and Wisdom for Future Generations. Potential synergies include inviting distinguished guests to engage youth on happiness and meaning, and engaging exceptional individuals to share and preserve insights for future generations.

Interfaith Initiative and UWL Policy Institute. Potential synergies include inviting faith leaders into complementary happiness discussions and engaging government officials, researchers, and policy experts on well-being and Ministries of Happiness.

Invitation to Lead or Co Lead the Initiative

United World Leaders Society invites extraordinary individuals with vision, experience, relationships, and commitment to lead or co-lead the Initiative. Founding leaders are invited to shape its goals, strategic direction, programs, partnerships, funding priorities, and geographic development. This is an opportunity to help change the world, inspire future generations, and create impact and a lasting, multigenerational legacy.

The Initiative is designed to be shaped and advanced by its leaders and participating partners, who develop activities, engage participants, and mobilize support, drawing on the Society’s platform as opportunities are approved and developed.

Supporters and Naming Opportunities

Philanthropists, family offices, foundations, businesses, academic institutions, and other supporters are invited to advance the Initiative financially and otherwise. Support priorities include roundtables, annual assemblies, youth participation, educational resources, research, and government engagement.

Naming opportunities include roundtables, assembly programs, youth fellowships, research programs, educational funds, and regional activities. Arrangements are developed with the Society in line with the scope of support, offering supporters an opportunity to create meaningful impact and an enduring legacy.

Development and Lasting Impact

Development priorities include defining initial programs, engaging partners, securing support, and establishing practical measures of progress. Assessment is designed to consider activities delivered, youth engagement, partnerships sustained, and progress on well-being policies, with a long-term focus on meaningful benefits for people and communities.
