PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT, LEADERSHIP CHARTER AND TERMS & CONDITIONS

PREAMBLE

Young United World Leaders (“YUWL”) is a global youth leadership initiative established under the United World Leaders (“UWL”) institutional platform.

Young United World Leaders exists to identify, encourage, develop, connect, and empower young leaders who demonstrate integrity, initiative, compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to creating meaningful positive impact within their communities and throughout the world.

Participation in Young United World Leaders is both a privilege and a responsibility.

By joining Young United World Leaders, each participant voluntarily agrees to uphold the mission, values, principles, and standards contained within this Participation Agreement and Terms and Conditions.

The Institution believes that leadership is earned through service, measurable impact, ethical conduct, collaboration, and the development of future leaders.

Young United World Leaders is not merely a membership organization.

It is a global leadership platform dedicated to preparing the next generation of leaders capable of advancing socioeconomic prosperity and peace across nations and generations.

ARTICLE 1 — MISSION

The mission of Young United World Leaders is to identify, connect, educate, develop, and empower young leaders who seek to create measurable positive impact while advancing socioeconomic prosperity, peace, innovation, education, collaboration, and humanitarian service throughout the world.

ARTICLE 2 — VISION

Young United World Leaders envisions a world where young people become trusted leaders within their communities and collaborate across cities, countries, and continents to solve important challenges through dialogue, innovation, service, entrepreneurship, education, diplomacy, scientific advancement, and responsible leadership.

The Institution believes that every young person possesses the potential to create meaningful impact when provided with encouragement, opportunity, mentorship, and an environment that promotes leadership and service.

ARTICLE 3 — NATURE OF PARTICIPATION

Participation in Young United World Leaders is entirely voluntary.

Participation does not constitute employment.

Participation does not create any agency, partnership, joint venture, fiduciary, or employment relationship between the participant and United World Leaders.

Participants serve as volunteers unless otherwise specifically agreed in writing by the Institution.

Nothing contained within these Terms shall be interpreted as creating any expectation of compensation, reimbursement, scholarship, appointment, recognition, or future opportunity.

ARTICLE 4 — CORE VALUES

Every participant agrees to uphold and promote the following values throughout their participation:

Integrity
Always act honestly, ethically, responsibly, and transparently.

Respect
Treat every individual with dignity, professionalism, courtesy, and respect regardless of nationality, ethnicity, religion, political beliefs, culture, gender, age, or background.

Service
Leadership exists to improve the lives of others rather than to pursue personal recognition or status.

Collaboration
Meaningful impact is created through partnerships and cooperation. Participants are encouraged to work constructively with individuals and organizations across all sectors of society.

Innovation
Participants are encouraged to seek creative solutions to complex challenges and continuously pursue learning and improvement.

Excellence
Participants should strive for professionalism, preparation, reliability, accountability, and continuous improvement in all activities.

Leadership
Leadership within Young United World Leaders is demonstrated through initiative, responsibility, humility, measurable impact, and the ability to inspire and develop future leaders.

ARTICLE 5 — GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Participants acknowledge that Young United World Leaders encourages them to:

  • Become independent thinkers and self-starters.
  • Develop practical solutions to important community challenges.
  • Recruit, encourage, mentor, and empower other young leaders.
  • Build partnerships across government, academia, business, nonprofit organizations, and civil society.
  • Promote dialogue instead of division.
  • Create measurable positive impact.
  • Build organizations that continue serving communities beyond the tenure of any individual leader.
  • Represent the Institution with professionalism and integrity.

ARTICLE 6 — LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS

Participants are encouraged to actively contribute to the mission of Young United World Leaders through activities such as:

  • Organizing meetings.
  • Facilitating educational discussions.
  • Coordinating volunteer initiatives.
  • Building leadership teams.
  • Recruiting additional members.
  • Mentoring future leaders.
  • Developing partnerships.
  • Organizing conferences, workshops, and community service activities.
  • Documenting measurable impact.
  • Sharing successful ideas with other Young United World Leaders chapters.
  • Promoting constructive collaboration among individuals and organizations.

Leadership positions within Young United World Leaders are earned through demonstrated leadership, measurable impact, integrity, professionalism, collaboration, and commitment to the Institution’s mission.

Appointments may evolve over time as the Institution expands and leadership opportunities develop.

ARTICLE 7 — LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

The Institution strongly encourages every participant to continuously develop his or her leadership abilities.

Participants are encouraged to:

  • Read regularly.
  • Continue learning.
  • Develop communication skills.
  • Improve public speaking abilities.
  • Learn project management.
  • Build relationships.
  • Seek mentorship.
  • Mentor others.
  • Develop emotional intelligence.
  • Practice humility.
  • Strengthen integrity.
  • Expand professional knowledge.
  • Learn from leaders across multiple disciplines.

Leadership development is viewed as a lifelong journey rather than a destination.

ARTICLE 8 — LEADERSHIP ADVANCEMENT

Young United World Leaders provides opportunities for leadership growth as participants demonstrate increasing levels of initiative, professionalism, service, and measurable impact.

  • Young United World Leaders Member
  • Young United World Leaders Ambassador
  • Senior Ambassador
  • City Ambassador
  • City Council Member
  • City Council Vice Chair
  • City Council Chair
  • Regional Ambassador
  • Regional Council Member
  • Regional Council Chair
  • National Ambassador
  • National Council Member
  • National Council Chair
  • Continental Council Member
  • Continental Council Chair
  • Member of the Global Youth Advisory Board
  • Global Youth Ambassador
  • Global Executive Leadership

These titles are illustrative only and may be modified by the Institution as programs continue to evolve.

No participant acquires any permanent right to any title, appointment, recognition, or leadership position.

Appointments remain entirely within the discretion of United World Leaders.

ARTICLE 9 — PERMITTED ACTIVITIES

Young United World Leaders encourages participants to develop, organize, and participate in activities that advance the Institution’s mission of developing leaders and creating meaningful positive impact.

Subject to these Terms and Conditions and any applicable policies established by United World Leaders, participants are encouraged to organize and participate in activities such as:

  • Leadership development programs.
  • Community service projects.
  • Educational workshops and seminars.
  • Entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives.
  • Artificial Intelligence, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
  • Financial literacy initiatives.
  • Environmental sustainability projects.
  • Public policy education and civic engagement programs.
  • Healthcare awareness initiatives.
  • Humanitarian and volunteer activities.
  • Cultural exchange and international collaboration.
  • Peacebuilding and conflict resolution discussions.
  • Youth leadership conferences.
  • University and school leadership clubs.
  • Mentorship programs.
  • Career development workshops.
  • Public speaking competitions.
  • Research initiatives.
  • Policy discussions.
  • Community improvement projects.
  • Any other activities approved by the Institution that are consistent with the mission and values of Young United World Leaders.

Participants are encouraged to exercise creativity and initiative in designing programs that address the needs of their communities while remaining consistent with these Terms and Conditions.

ARTICLE 10 — ACTIVITIES REQUIRING PRIOR APPROVAL

To ensure consistency with the Institution’s mission, protect the reputation of United World Leaders, and promote responsible leadership, the following activities require prior written approval from the Institution:

  • Conferences, summits, or major public events conducted under the UWL or YUWL name.
  • Public campaigns using the UWL or YUWL name or logo.
  • Official partnerships or memoranda of understanding entered into on behalf of the Institution.
  • Use of the Institution’s logos, trademarks, or branding on materials intended for broad public distribution.
  • Public statements or press releases issued on behalf of the Institution.
  • Creation of websites, social media pages, newsletters, podcasts, or publications representing themselves as official UWL or YUWL communication channels.
  • Any activity that could reasonably be interpreted as representing the official position of United World Leaders.

The Institution may approve, deny, or request modifications to any proposed activity in its sole discretion.

ARTICLE 11 — PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES

To protect the integrity, reputation, and independence of Young United World Leaders and United World Leaders, participants shall not engage in any of the following activities under the Institution’s name or while representing the Institution:

11.1 Political Campaigning

Participants shall not:

  • Campaign for or against political candidates.
  • Endorse political parties on behalf of the Institution.
  • Organize partisan political activities under the UWL or YUWL name.
  • Use the Institution’s name or reputation to influence elections.

Nothing in this section prevents participants from engaging in lawful personal political activities in their individual capacities, provided they do not represent or imply that they are speaking or acting on behalf of the Institution.

11.2 Commercial Activities

Participants shall not:

  • Operate a private business using the UWL or YUWL platform.
  • Advertise commercial products or services.
  • Use the Institution primarily to obtain clients or customers.
  • Promote private commercial interests through official YUWL activities.
  • Sell products or services under the UWL or YUWL name unless expressly authorized in writing.

The Institution exists to create impact—not to serve as a commercial marketplace.

11.3 Financial Activities

Unless specifically authorized in writing by the Institution, participants shall not:

  • Raise money in the name of UWL or YUWL.
  • Collect donations.
  • Solicit sponsorships.
  • Charge membership fees.
  • Open bank accounts.
  • Apply for grants.
  • Accept financial contributions.
  • Enter financial agreements on behalf of the Institution.

Any approved financial activities shall comply with all applicable UWL policies and applicable laws.

11.4 Legal Authority

Participants shall not:

  • Sign contracts on behalf of United World Leaders.
  • Create legal obligations for the Institution.
  • Establish corporations, nonprofit organizations, trusts, or other legal entities using the UWL or YUWL name without prior written approval.
  • Represent themselves as authorized representatives of the Institution beyond the scope of any authority expressly granted.

11.5 Misrepresentation

Participants shall not:

  • Misrepresent their leadership position.
  • Exaggerate their authority.
  • Misstate Institutional policies.
  • Claim endorsements that have not been granted.
  • Present personal opinions as official positions of United World Leaders.

Integrity and honesty are fundamental expectations of every participant.

11.6 Harmful Conduct

Participants shall not engage in conduct that could reasonably damage the reputation, mission, or integrity of the Institution, including but not limited to:

  • Harassment.
  • Bullying.
  • Hate speech.
  • Discrimination.
  • Violence.
  • Illegal conduct.
  • Dishonesty.
  • Fraud.
  • Misuse of confidential information.
  • Defamation.
  • Conduct inconsistent with the values of United World Leaders.

ARTICLE 12 — POLITICAL NEUTRALITY

Young United World Leaders encourages young people to understand government, diplomacy, economics, public administration, public policy, and civic engagement.

The Institution supports respectful dialogue and informed discussion of important issues affecting society.

Accordingly, participants are encouraged to:

  • Learn about public policy.
  • Attend educational forums.
  • Organize debates and discussions.
  • Invite elected officials from different perspectives.
  • Study diplomacy and governance.
  • Develop thoughtful policy proposals that contribute constructively to society.

However, the Institution shall remain politically independent and non-partisan.

Participants shall not use the Institution to promote partisan political agendas or candidates.

All policy discussions should be conducted respectfully, objectively, and with the goal of advancing thoughtful dialogue and practical solutions.

ARTICLE 13 — COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC STATEMENTS

Participants are encouraged to communicate professionally and responsibly at all times.

Public communications should reflect the values of Young United World Leaders and United World Leaders.

Participants should strive to ensure that communications are:

  • Respectful.
  • Accurate.
  • Professional.
  • Constructive.
  • Truthful.
  • Consistent with the Institution’s mission.

Participants are encouraged to document and celebrate successful initiatives through photographs, videos, articles, newsletters, and social media.

Where appropriate, major public announcements, official publications, press releases, or statements issued on behalf of the Institution should be submitted to the Institution for review prior to publication.

The Institution reserves the right to request revisions where necessary to ensure consistency with its mission, policies, and reputation.

ARTICLE 14 — BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS

Young United World Leaders strongly encourages participants to build constructive relationships with organizations that share a commitment to creating positive impact.

Participants are encouraged to collaborate with:

  • Schools.
  • Universities.
  • Research institutions.
  • Government agencies.
  • Local municipalities.
  • Businesses.
  • Chambers of commerce.
  • Nonprofit organizations.
  • Philanthropic organizations.
  • Community organizations.
  • International organizations.
  • Professional associations.

Such partnerships should always be developed with professionalism, integrity, mutual respect, and transparency.

Whenever appropriate, participants should emphasize that Young United World Leaders operates under the broader United World Leaders platform—one of the world’s largest independent assemblies of distinguished leaders from government, business, academia, philanthropy, diplomacy, science, nonprofit organizations, and civil society.

Participants should recognize that they are ambassadors of the Institution and should conduct themselves in a manner that strengthens confidence in the mission, values, and reputation of United World Leaders.

ARTICLE 15 — LEADERSHIP RECOGNITION, ADVANCEMENT AND OPPORTUNITIES

Young United World Leaders exists to identify, encourage, develop, and recognize young leaders who demonstrate exceptional character, initiative, integrity, professionalism, measurable impact, and commitment to serving others.

Accordingly, the Institution may, in its sole discretion, recognize participants who distinguish themselves through outstanding leadership and service.

Recognition may include, but is not limited to:

  • Certificates of Leadership and Service.
  • Letters of Commendation.
  • Institutional awards.
  • Recognition during United World Leaders conferences, summits, and other events.
  • Features on the Institution’s website, newsletters, publications, and social media platforms.
  • Invitations to participate in leadership forums, roundtables, and special events.
  • Opportunities to mentor other young leaders.
  • Invitations to contribute to institutional publications or educational programs.
  • Scholarships, fellowships, internships, educational opportunities, or travel opportunities, where available.
  • Appointment to additional leadership positions or advisory bodies.

Recognition is intended to celebrate meaningful service and measurable impact. It is not guaranteed and remains entirely within the discretion of the Institution.

ARTICLE 16 — LEADERSHIP ADVANCEMENT

Leadership advancement within Young United World Leaders is based upon demonstrated leadership rather than seniority or length of participation.

When considering appointments or advancement opportunities, the Institution may consider factors including:

  • Integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Commitment to the Institution’s mission and values.
  • Measurable community impact.
  • Initiative and professionalism.
  • Ability to recruit, mentor, and empower other leaders.
  • Collaboration with governments, universities, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Quality of communication.
  • Organizational ability.
  • Long-term commitment.
  • Compliance with these Terms and Conditions.

Participants acknowledge that leadership appointments are privileges rather than contractual rights.

The Institution reserves the right to appoint, modify, suspend, or discontinue any leadership appointment at its sole discretion.

ARTICLE 17 — INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The names United World Leaders, Young United World Leaders, their logos, branding, trademarks, slogans, program names, publications, educational materials, websites, graphics, and other institutional intellectual property are and shall remain the exclusive property of United World Leaders.

Participants receive only a limited, non-exclusive, revocable permission to use approved branding solely for authorized Institutional activities and only while participating in good standing.

Participants shall not:

  • Register domain names using the Institution’s name.
  • Register trademarks similar to UWL or YUWL.
  • Create logos representing themselves as official Institutional logos.
  • Modify official logos without authorization.
  • Continue using Institutional branding following termination or withdrawal of participation.

Intellectual property independently developed by participants outside the scope of their participation remains the property of its creators.

Nothing contained herein transfers ownership of any Institutional intellectual property to any participant.

ARTICLE 18 — PRIVACY, MEDIA AND PUBLICITY

Participants acknowledge that Young United World Leaders is an international leadership initiative that regularly documents educational activities and community impact.

Accordingly, participants authorize the Institution to photograph, record, publish, reproduce, and distribute photographs, video recordings, interviews, biographies, testimonials, names, leadership achievements, and descriptions of approved activities for educational, historical, promotional, institutional, and archival purposes, without additional compensation, unless otherwise prohibited by applicable law.

The Institution will make reasonable efforts to use such materials respectfully and in a manner consistent with its mission and values.

Participants should likewise respect the privacy and dignity of others when publishing photographs or recordings from Institutional activities.

ARTICLE 19 — INSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY

United World Leaders reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to:

  • Interpret these Terms and Conditions.
  • Modify, amend, expand, or discontinue Young United World Leaders programs.
  • Create or discontinue leadership positions.
  • Approve or deny applications.
  • Approve or deny proposed activities.
  • Modify institutional policies.
  • Request modifications to public communications using the Institution’s name.
  • Suspend or terminate participation where appropriate.
  • Establish additional guidelines or operational procedures.

Updated Terms and Conditions shall become effective upon publication unless otherwise stated.

Participants are encouraged to periodically review the most current version of these Terms.

ARTICLE 20 — SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION

The Institution hopes that every participant enjoys a positive and productive leadership journey.

However, to protect the Institution and its participants, United World Leaders reserves the right to suspend or terminate participation where, in its reasonable judgment, a participant has:

  • Materially violated these Terms and Conditions.
  • Misrepresented the Institution.
  • Engaged in dishonest or unlawful conduct.
  • Used the Institution for unauthorized commercial purposes.
  • Used the Institution for unauthorized political campaigning.
  • Engaged in conduct that could reasonably damage the reputation or mission of United World Leaders.
  • Failed to comply with reasonable Institutional requests concerning approved activities.

Whenever reasonably practicable, the Institution will generally seek to communicate concerns, provide an opportunity for clarification or response, and encourage corrective action before taking final administrative action. However, the Institution reserves the right to take immediate action where circumstances reasonably require it to protect participants, the Institution, or the public.

Participation in Young United World Leaders is voluntary and may likewise be discontinued voluntarily by the participant at any time.

ARTICLE 21 — ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By applying to participate in Young United World Leaders or by participating in Young United World Leaders activities, the participant acknowledges that he or she:

  • Has read these Terms and Conditions.
  • Understands these Terms and Conditions.
  • Agrees to comply with these Terms and Conditions.
  • Agrees to represent the Institution professionally and ethically.
  • Understands that leadership opportunities are earned through service, integrity, measurable impact, and commitment to the Institution’s mission.
  • Accepts that participation is voluntary and subject to these Terms and Conditions.

THE YOUNG UNITED WORLD LEADERS LEADERSHIP PLEDGE

As a participant in Young United World Leaders, I voluntarily pledge to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, humility, respect, and service.

I commit to leading by example, acting honestly and ethically, respecting the dignity and value of every individual, and promoting dialogue, understanding, and collaboration across cultures, communities, and nations.

I will strive to become a lifelong learner, continuously developing my knowledge, character, leadership abilities, and capacity to serve others. I will encourage, mentor, and empower other young leaders, recognizing that one of the greatest measures of leadership is the ability to inspire future leaders.

I will use my talents, creativity, and energy to create meaningful and measurable positive impact within my community and throughout the world. I will seek practical solutions to important challenges, build partnerships that strengthen society, and contribute to advancing socioeconomic prosperity, innovation, opportunity, and peace across nations and generations.

I understand that leadership is not measured by titles, popularity, or recognition, but by integrity, service, responsibility, measurable impact, and the positive legacy I leave behind.

I further pledge to represent Young United World Leaders and United World Leaders with professionalism, humility, honesty, and respect in every interaction. I will protect the reputation of the Institution, uphold its mission and values, and conduct myself in a manner worthy of the trust placed in me.

I will strive to leave every community, every organization, and every person I encounter better than I found them.

Through leadership, collaboration, innovation, compassion, and service, I commit to helping build a more peaceful, prosperous, just, and hopeful world for present and future generations.

This is my commitment.
This is my responsibility.
This is my opportunity to serve.

FINAL STATEMENT

Young United World Leaders is more than a leadership program. It is a global community of young people committed to improving the world through ethical leadership, meaningful service, measurable impact, and collaboration.

Every participant is encouraged to think beyond personal achievement and to dedicate his or her talents toward strengthening communities, developing future leaders, and helping shape a more peaceful and prosperous future for humanity.

The Institution welcomes every participant to this shared mission and looks forward to witnessing the positive impact they will create throughout their leadership journey.
